Common sense isn't.

Thanks to Archive.org and the old Student Information Processing Board Home Page (now same as the old MIT Home Page "to avoid confusing Internet users" according to the current SIPB home page)

Graphics are (apparently) originally from Eri Izawa

WWW.MIT.EDU Server Logo

The cool new server logo

was designed by Eri Izawa (rei@mit.edu). Here is a small note on legalities. We didn't want to put it in, but circumstances have made it necessary.

To reduce the load on the server, the graphics have been altered to have fewer colors. Let us know what you think. You can still view the originals in rei's homepage.

The Fuzzball

The Fuzzball (a.k.a. a Cromwell's Checkers playing piece) was designed in the old days, and has been an unofficial logo of sorts of the SIPB for a long time.

He is not amused.

Mens et Manus

MIT's logo is a depiction of its motto, ``Brains and Brawn*.'' This is a modern rendition of the old MIT seal.

Quote of the moment
Such practices as bodhicitta automatically bring calmness at the time of death. The mind at the time of death is at a very critical period, and if you are able to leave a strong, positive impact at that time, then it will become a very powerful force in continuing a positive experience in the next life.
